- Role Play: Play a game at home where you pretend to be in school, and you both 'look' for places to hide. Then reverse roles. It’s silly but helps them process their feelings.
- Ask Open-Ended Questions: Instead of asking, "Did you hide again today?" try "What was the best part and the hardest part about today?" It might give you clues on what could help.

When my kiddo started hiding at the back of the library during reading time, it was frustrating. After chatting with the teacher, we decided to give him a small role, like being in charge of handing out crayons. Somehow, being involved made him forget to hide (or maybe crayons are just that cool).
