How we create content

A behind-the-scenes look at how every article comes together — and why we use AI responsibly in our process.

Our approach to AI-assisted writing

We use AI language models as tools in the writing process, not as content creators. Think of AI like a research assistant or brainstorming partner — it helps us work faster and explore ideas more thoroughly, but a human author is always in control.

The workflow: From idea to published article

Step 1: Topic selection

We pick topics based on:

  • Questions we hear from parents repeatedly.
  • New research or updates to existing guidance.
  • Seasonal needs (e.g., bedtime routines before school year).
  • Gaps in existing resources online.

Step 2: Research and planning

Before writing a single sentence, we gather sources:

  • Scan peer-reviewed journals and research summaries.
  • Review guidance from health authorities (WHO, CDC, AAP).
  • Pull insights from developmental psychology and child behavior research.
  • Create an outline with key points and real examples we've seen work.

Step 3: AI-assisted drafting

We use AI to help organize and draft the outline. The AI might:

  • Expand bullet points into coherent paragraphs.
  • Suggest language to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Help brainstorm different angles or examples for a section.

The author still writes the core voice and messaging. We don't copy-paste AI output — we always rewrite substantially and ensure the final article sounds like us and reflects our actual experience.

Step 4: Human editorial review

The author reads the full draft and:

  • Rewrites sections to match our voice and perspective.
  • Fact-checks every claim against our sources.
  • Adds personal examples or context that AI couldn't know.
  • Tests instructions: Do these steps actually work? Is the advice realistic?
  • Simplifies complex sections and removes jargon.

Step 5: Verification

Before publishing, we confirm:

  • Every citation or reference is accurate and linked correctly.
  • Claims align with current professional guidelines.
  • The article is helpful and honest about what we don't know.
  • We've added disclaimers where medical judgment is needed.

Step 6: Publication with transparency

The published article includes a clear disclosure:

"This article was created with AI assistance and reviewed by our editorial team."

This tells readers: humans wrote this, humans verified it, and we're being transparent about our process.

Why we use AI (and why we're transparent about it)

  • Speed: AI helps us write more articles to serve more families without sacrificing quality.
  • Clarity: Language models are good at explaining complex ideas simply — helpful for explaining child development research to busy parents.
  • Depth: We can research and cover topics more thoroughly because drafting takes less manual time.
  • Honesty: We disclose AI use because parents deserve to know how the content was made. It's not a weakness — it's a fact of modern publishing, and we're open about it.

What we don't let AI do

  • Make claims without sources. Every major assertion is tied to research or expert guidance.
  • Replace human judgment. A person reads and approves every word before publication.
  • Create new ideas or advice. We don't let the AI "invent" parenting strategies — everything is grounded in evidence or real experience.
  • Bypass our fact-checking. No article publishes without human verification of sources.

Our commitment

We use AI as a tool to help us serve your family better — faster research, clearer writing, more articles — but not as a shortcut. Every piece we publish is backed by human expertise, fact-checking, and care. We think transparency about how we work builds trust.
